Latest News Diesel Generators from YorPower Provide Emergency Backup for Brand New Renewable Energy Centre

When Kentor Energy, as the EPC Principal Contractor, needed a reliable diesel standby generator system for the new state of the art Community Renewable Energy Centre they were building for Sheffield in the North of England they turned to YorPower.

Veolia has been awarded a 15-year contract to operate the Holbrook Community Renewable Energy Centre by Equitix ESI CHP. The 6.5MW biomass-fired combined heat and power station in Holbrook, Sheffield, will provide sustainable green energy for over 10,000 homes so the system to provide emergency backup had to be extremely robust.

The plant is expected to use around 55,000 tonnes of waste wood as carbon neutral fuel which will be provided by local suppliers and will have the capability to export renewable heat to more than 6,700 local homes and commercial properties.

YorPower were able, not just to respond in the timescale demanded by the project, but also to demonstrate considerable experience in similar instances and were also able to produce the 1,000lt integral fuel tank required and provide all the pipework and control systems at very short notice. YorPower engineers are now in the final stages of installing and commissioning the two Cummins powered 155kVA diesel generators on site.
